Ashuelot Rail Trail Program

The Town of Winchester is participating in the Ashuelot Rail Trail Project Advisory Committee, a group of stakeholders from multiple towns, formed to aid and guide the Southwest Regional Planning Commission (SWRPC) in the development of a vision and plan to improve, promote and invest in the Ashuelot Rail Trail.

The Ashuelot Rail Trail runs 21.5 miles from Keene, through Swanzey and Winchester to Hinsdale.

The multiuse trail is a unique benefit to each town by connecting people with various forms recreation and being used as an alternative mode of transportation. Revitalizing the rail trial could bring not only fun and healthy benefits to residents, but an economic boost with tourists for hiking, biking, snowmobiling, x country skiing, and viewing wildlife and the scenic Ashuelot River. The town representatives attending the 5 meeting over the next 12 months are Herb Stephens and Margaret Sharra. They would be glad to share any comments and input you relay to them.
